Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology
In the current time people can’t imagine their life without technology. Surrounding us various technologies are helping people to live their life with more luxury. The technology sector has changed and developed many products. The technology is providing many advantages but also it has some disadvantages. Here we will discuss about both -
Advantages
There are several advantages of technology like
Easier life – With technological machine people are getting help in every sector. Cars and bikes are helping people to reach anywhere quickly. Airplane and superfast trains have been reduced distance between cities and countries. Computer and internet are providing information in simplest way also it has changed way of communication. Now people are doing video conferencing and chatting to communicate with their friends and family used communication technology.
Lesser Mistakes – Machines are helping people to make lesser mistakes. Robots or machines are working accurately and you just need to program them with proper information. Like in production of any automotive most of manufacturing companies are using automatic machines which follow instruction of computer or that person who is operating the machine. And all work gets done perfectly.
Save Time – Technologies are saving our time, for an example you can flew anywhere in the world in lesser time. With computer you can do any work in lesser time and also it help to enhance quality and provide suggestions. Machines are helping people in kitchen too – like Oven and these are also saving time.
Disadvantages
Every one knows that technology is very helpful but it has some disadvantages too. Because many companies have adopted automatic machines so that they can improve their production with accuracy. As a result many people lost their job.
Similarly house maids are loosing their job because robotic machines are doing their job. Owner need to pay one time only while maid get paid for every month.
However machines and robots look inexpensive and good to use but, when any technical problem occurs in machine or robot, it took much time to fix it and also it can be expensive.
As we found that in technology sector, there are many advantages and disadvantages, even then people can’t imagine their life without technology including me.
Cell Phone Technology – Unleashing the Future of the Smart Phone
Most people do not realize how fast mobile cell phone technology is moving today, it seems to be exponentially increasing. As we study all the new applications and features along with all the new devices, we see that there is no stopping these advances. The question is; are you in or out? Will you embrace these new technologies and applications or fear them. Are you sure you trust these innovations? What about privacy, hacking, what about the future?
To quickly illustrate just how fast things are moving in the smart phone space, let me give you a few examples. These are up to date, as in this week; personal tech articles in the smart cell phone industry. The first article I found in Boston.com, an article titled: “Check this out: Deposit money by taking a photo,” By Andrew Vanacore – AP Business Writer / February 23, 2010. In the article the writer states:
“In the near future, you might not even have to visit a bank or an ATM to deposit a check. You’ll simply snap a couple of photos of it with your cell phone. Applications to do just that are already available for Apple’s iPhone and other gadgets from USAA, a company that provides insurance and banking mainly for military veterans.”
He goes onto explain in this personal mobile smart cell phone tech piece that banks such as Chase, B of A, and Citibank appear to be all in with this technology suggest the article’s author, and they will introduce this technology in 2010. The concept is called “remote depositing capturing,” and where as this seems to be great technology and a user friendly concept, we must also recall the target that mobile users have become from hackers, especially as we learn of the release of secret codes used to encrypt such devices.
Scary stuff, for those using such applications, but indeed, it would sure make electronic wired deposits easy wouldn’t it? Of course, if cell phone banking bothers you, perhaps we should suggest window shopping in real time via your cell phone? No sense in shopping tell you drop anymore, just walk by the window, even if the store is closed and press buy, and it’s yours, and will be sent to your home. Online shopping while window shopping.
A recent article in the New York Times explains it all. The title of the article; “Cellphones Let Shoppers Point, Click and Purchase” By Stephanie Rosenbloom – Published: February 26, 2010. The author explains how shoppers can use their cell phone to order from the window of a retail store, and buy online simply by pointing at the item in the window; wow, now that’s cool.
Wow, what a concept, all this via your smart phone technology. And this is something that will definitely be a hit with shoppers and cell phone users. Okay, so what about Skype smart phone calls? Yes, that too is available now; In TopNews online of India and article titled; “Samsung embeds Skype” which was submitted by Jimmy Peterson on Sat, 02/27/2010 – 12:25 explains it all. The article researched the impressive growth of Skype usage features in various smart phone devices, as if it could become the international standard for all cellphones in the future. Panasonic and LG are already offering this, and it is a big hit in the EU and Asia markets.
As fast as one company introduces a new feature, all the others seem to follow. Just because Apple or Google has a new application, does not mean the industry will not make that a standard feature on all smart phones, just like digital camera, video clips, etc. Sure the technologies or applications might work slightly differently due to patents, software, device hardware, but essentially all companies will offer all applications eventually.
The competitive nature of the industry is heating up as 100s of millions of Chinese, Indians, South East Asians, Africans, and South Americans are getting their first mobile devices, face it, it’s a mobile wired world. In fact, in a recent article in MB Manila Publishing Company’s online version; “Report: Global phone sales grow 8% in Q4,” By Melvin G. Calimag on February 27, 2010, 2:19pm explained how smart phone sales are hitting record numbers in 2009 up nearly 25% and could double in 2010.
Indeed, I’d say this is an exciting time in the mobile smart personal tech sector, perhaps, you’d like to upgrade, and get on board and enjoy some of the incredible applications which are being announced monthly, even weekly in some cases. Why not consider upgrading your cell smart phone device and signing up for a new cell calling plan? Please consider all this, because our Online Think Tank is.
The Advancements of Mobile Phone Technology
There is a measurable trend with computer components that broadly states that the processing power of integrated circuits will double every two years. Because this trend comes from the ability of manufacturers to pack more transistors into the integrated circuit boards, this same trend holds true with other components such as memory capacity and sensors used in making digital cameras. This trend was first identified in 1965 by one the co-founders of Intel, and has held true ever since.
Many of the advancements in mobile phone technology therefore stem from this ability to get a lot more processing power into the same space for a similar cost as was possible a few years ago.
For consumers, this means that the mobile phone you purchase today will become out dated within 12 months, if not sooner. It will of course continue to operate perfectly satisfactorily, although subject to wear and tear, until you decide you can justify the enhanced features of a new phone.
Of course there is a delay between the technological advancements and those advancements making their way into mobile phones. For this reason, manufacturers are constantly releasing information on their next range of mobiles, even though these will not be available for several months, and in some cases, for the most complex devices this can sometimes be as much as six or nine months.
This does give some idea of the paths in which mobile phone advancements are going.
In addition to higher resolution cameras and near high definition video you can expect to see mobile phones with huge amounts of memory to enable storage of images and music.
One limitation to the capabilities of future mobile phones is battery power. New advancements, particularly backlit touch screens and music players that mean the phones are used for large portions of a day, use up battery power at a faster rate than when a mobile is sitting in standby, just waiting for a call. In addition to improvements in battery technology, manufacturers are exploring new types of memory that not only work faster but use less battery power. This means that your mobile phone will be able to do more for longer.
Another potential advancement in mobile phones is the drive towards a green mobile. Samsung in particular have a track history for developing eco friendly devices including a mobile made from eighty percent recyclable materials and solar powered phones.
The final area of advancement is that of operating platform, that is to say the software that runs the mobile and controls how it works and presents itself to the user. There are currently four or five main contenders; Symbian is the platform used predominantly by Nokia as well as other manufacturers. There is a mobile version of Microsoft Windows and the Google developed Android, in addition to Apple’s operating software that powers the iPhone. Nokia are also experimenting with an alternative system call Maemo.
Developments are ongoing in each of these and are necessary to keep pace with the hardware improvements, but one thing is likely here, and that is that the software is likely to only get more complicated and feature rich as time goes on.
